Why not visit The Eagle Gallery to see a new collaborative exhibition by member Anja Penger-Onyett and Janet Cook.
Ceramicist/Potter, selected member of Anglian Potters
Anja always loved working with her hands. The 3 dimensional possibilities of forming shapes with clay are endless, mainly on thrown on the potters-wheel, then sculpted or modified. She loves to overcome technical challenges of forming and firing forms inspired by nature. The colours of her glazes are following the shades of natural tones, which she sees every day while walking the dogs. The glazes are all composed from raw materials following her own recipes.
Member, Society of Designer Craftsmen
Janet won two National Quilt Championships and a variety of other prizes for her quilts, then turned her attention to a wider range of textile techniques, some entirely her own. She has spent the summer in and out of Bedfordshire hedgerows, exploring the colours and textures of the fauna and flora. She has used natural dyes, paints, inks and many different textiles, from jute to raw silk to portray what she feels about the fragility of nature.
